Kodak Retina IIIC (028)

The most sophisticated of the folding Retinas, the brightline viewfinder shows the framing for both the 35mm and 80mm auxiliary lenses as well as the standard 50mm lens. The exposure meter, although uncoupled, is calibrated to 3200ASA. A clip-on diffuser was available to allow the measurement of incident light. A point to note with these cameras, the lens serial number is engraved on the lens mount as well as on the lens, they should both match. The 35mm lens for these models came in two types, the f/5.6, which is a similar size to the 50mm item, albeit a bit longer, but which uses the same lens hood, shown below on the left. The f/4 lens however, (below right), is considerably larger and, when fitted with its lens hood, which, incidentally forms part of the packaging "bubble", actually obscures about a third of the viewfinder. The documentation accompanying this lens does recommend the use of the f/5.6 item for the folding Retinas. The 80mm component is of a very similar shape and size to the 35mm f/4, it's lenshood being of similar dimensions as well.
