Kodak Retina I (010)

Very similar to the pre-war Retinas, this model was the first of the post-war Retinas from Kodak AG. The only significant visual difference of this model to it's immediate predecessors (Type 148) seems to be the enlarged focussing knob and the lack of a milled edge to the focussing ring, shown in the detail below. Though some early examples did retain the smaller focussing knob of the pre-war camera, apparently no Model 010 has the milled edge to the focussing ring. The lens has to be set to infinity to enable the closing of these cameras, which have a body shutter release and a depth of field calculator on the base. On this particular camera, which is fitted with a 5cm Xenar lens in a Compur-Rapid shutter, this is in English and scaled in feet. These cameras are often found with an optional accessory shoe fitted, adjacent to the viewfinder, as seen on my Retina I type 148.

Of Type 010 over approximately 128,600 were made and together with the very similar Type 013 413,708 were built.
